Author-Illustrator Jan Brett to visit Seward

Seward, NE (09/05/2018) — Children's book author Jan Brett is coming to Concordia University, Nebraska, to launch her fall tour hosted by the Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival and Chapters Books & Gifts of Seward at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 22, 2018 in Weller Auditorium on campus.

Brett will be available to sign books after her presentation. Her books will be on sale during the event, including some of her bestsellers and her new book, "The Snowy Nap" before it goes on sale anywhere else. Additionally, her original artwork is displayed in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art as part of "The World of Jan Brett" exhibition.

Jan Brett is one of the most renowned author-illustrators of children's books in the country. She is the creator of such books as "The Mitten," "Hedgie's Surprise" and "The Gingerbread Baby" and was named winner of the Boston Public Library's Lifetime Achievement Award. She lives in Massachusetts with her family. This is the second time Brett has made a stop at Concordia on her national tour.

"When Brett was last here, she charmed the audience with her storytelling and drawing, and I believe we can look forward to an afternoon of being charmed and inspired once again," said Dylan Teut, director of the Plum Creek Literacy Festival. "We invite everyone to come enjoy her artwork and then meet and greet the artist herself as we celebrate her upcoming title."

The presentation is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required to guarantee a spot in the book signing line. Tickets are available with the purchase of a copy of "The Snowy Nap" from Chapters Books & Gifts, located at 548 Seward St. Interested community members can check availability of tickets by calling Chapters at 402-643-2282. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
