Concordia Nebraska's Professor of Art Don Robson to present solo exhibition at Minot State University

Seward, NE (09/26/2024) — Concordia Nebraska Professor of Art Don Robson will present an All Media International best of show solo exhibition titled "The Space In Between" in the Walter Piehl Gallery at the Northwest Arts Center on the campus of Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota October 10 - November 23, 2024. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

"The space in between, also known as the "ma" in Japanese, refers to the gap or emptiness that exists between objects, situations or relationships," explained Robson. "Exploring themes of depression, loss, longing and acceptance, my work is a way for me to find peace with the plight and condition of people I know and don't know. I've always been drawn to the challenging issues inherent to relationships, the ones that force us to try harder or give up altogether. They are the issues that we're often more acutely sensitive to and stay with us for our lifetime."

Robson will also present at Minot State's art seminar speaker series on Friday, October 11 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM to students, faculty and the public. The presentation will be live streamed.

He will also serve as a visiting artist at Minot's advanced drawing and painting class on Wednesday October 9 and will provide guest critiques at Minot's independent art studio on Friday, October 11.

Robson began teaching at Concordia Nebraska in 2009 and serves as the chair of the art department. His previous teaching experience includes teaching at Lutheran High School of Kansas City and the University of Central Missouri with an emphasis in drawing, painting, design and art theory and criticism. Robson is an accomplished and published artist who has exhibited work in juried competitions, solo and group shows and has work in galleries, museums and private collections across the country. He previously taught at Wichita State University and Missouri Western State University.
