Ten Concordia University students serve on Habitat for Humanity trip

Seward, Neb. (03/23/2018) — Ten students from Concordia University, Nebraska spent their spring break serving in Colorado on a Habitat for Humanity trip, along with two Seward County Habitat volunteers.

The students stayed and worked in Woodland Park, Colorado with the Brush with Kindness group, where they helped to fix a habitat house that had become run-down. Additionally, they worked in the Habitat office as they prepared for celebrations and cleaned up rooms at the Colorado Lions Camp.

"Habitat for Humanity just has such a good ideology of putting other people first," said Concordia junior, Hannah Gillet. "It was great to serve another community and the manual labor and skills that can build them up."

"It's nice to give back in this way," said freshman Bethany Gillet, the leader of the trip. "We don't just build a house and leave either, but we focused on how to help these people long term by teaching them how to manage their finances, get jobs, and keep the house running."
