24-hour IMPROVathon entertains Concordia community
Seward, NE (02/22/2019) — The Concordia IMPROVables, an improvisational theater group, brought 24 hours of laughs to campus from Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. to Saturday Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Janzow Campus Center.
During the first two hours of the event, Concordia professor Vicki Anderson, Chartwells Dining Director Robert Agee, Concordia professor Chuck Blanco and his wife Rebekah Blanco judged the performers in a friendly competition. After that, the laughs were just for fun.
"Being with the people I love and doing improv is the best," said Hannah Watt, a sophomore from Fairmont, Minnesota. "24 hours of acting is tough for anyone, but it's what we love to do. It's definitely one of the highlights of the year."
In addition, the IMPROVers collected warm clothes to donate to People's City Mission in Lincoln. In total, over 20 articles of clothing were donated.
"We decided on warm clothes because of all the polar vortexes and strips of cold weather going through the Midwest right now," said Joseph Greenmyer, a junior from Stirum, North Dakota.
Following the 24-hour event, the IMPROVables spring schedule includes two traditional performances March 12 at Olde Glory Theatre in Seward and April 27 in the Thom Leadership Education Center Auditorium.
