Academic Excellence and Innovation Fund awards grant for LightBoards

by Hope Nelson

Seward, NE (04/29/2025) — The Academic Excellence and Innovation Fund at Concordia Nebraska recently awarded Instructional Innovation Specialist Mr. Peter Landrey a grant for $5,200 to purchase two LightBoards for the university's use. LightBoards are transparent writing surfaces that allow a presenter to be seen while writing or drawing on a surface.

The university's two LightBoards would further Concordia Nebraska's innovation in technology while enhancing student engagement and retention. According to Landrey, the LightBoard systems will not only increase student comprehension but also further Concordia's mission as a university.

"This initiative aligns with our mission to equip students for lives of learning, service and leadership, and our vision to cultivate a community grounded in the Word of God and the Lutheran confessions," Landrey said. "By integrating advanced teaching tools such as the LightBoard, we aim to provide an education in harmony with the Word of God, proclaim the Gospel message and nurture our students' God-given talents and potential."

One objective of the LightBoard initiative is to demonstrate the technology's promise among Concordia's faculty, garner interest and support and move toward purchasing more LightBoards in the future.
