by Hope Nelson

Seward, NE (12/19/2024) — Mr. Bill Curry GR '05 was recently named by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals (NSASSP) as its 2025-26 Middle School Principal of the Year. Curry graduated from Concordia Nebraska with an M.Ed. in educational administration in 2005.

Before coming to Concordia for his graduate studies, Curry obtained his B.S.Ed. from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Now, he serves as the principal of Boone Central Middle School in Albion, Neb., a rural district serving several small communities in the surrounding area.

Curry has been in education since 1998, previously holding positions with the Kearney Public Schools as well as the Lincoln Public Schools before transitioning into the role of principal at Boone Central Middle School in 2018, where he has served ever since. He has been a member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators and the NSASSP for 19 years.

The award bestowed upon Curry is given annually to a middle school principal who demonstrates "excellence in the areas of personal excellence, collaboration, leadership, curriculum, instruction, assessment and personalization" and outstanding leadership at the school, region and state level.

Parents, colleagues and former students of Curry's all speak to his willingness to get involved with the school community and address problems when they arose. They also cited his energy and enthusiasm for his job and the care he demonstrated for each one of the students he serves.

"This award represents the efforts of all of us," Curry said. "We take pride in doing things The Cardinal Way - fostering character, creating opportunities and striving for success."
