Concordia Nebraska announces promotion of two faculty members

Seward, NE (03/25/2026) — Concordia University, Nebraska today announced the promotion of two university faculty members. Dr. John Hink has been promoted to the position of dean of the university's College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Amanda Geidel has been promoted to the position of assistant dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.

Hink has been a history professor at Concordia since August 2012. Trained in immigration and constitutional history, Hink's research examines the history of birth citizenship in the United States. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Hink also serves as the director of Luke Scholars, Concordia's honors program.

Geidel has worked at Concordia Nebraska in a variety of roles since 1998. She currently serves as professor of education and as the director of special education. Geidel develops courses, recruits new students, leads faculty and makes decisions that impact the education department. She also teaches, advises special education majors and supervises student teachers. Geidel often presents at education conferences and provides professional development for teachers and paraeducators.
