Concordia Nebraska celebrates 100th anniversary of Weller Hall

Seward, NE (10/13/2025) — On Friday, September 19, Concordia University, Nebraska celebrated the 100th anniversary of Weller Hall with a special chapel service.

"For 100 years, God has been at work through His people in Weller Hall," said Concordia Nebraska President and Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Director of Academic Ventures Dr. Bernard Bull. "In the walls of this building, people have prayed, worshipped, wept, laughed, learned, hosted critical meetings and so much more. No doubt, there have even been a few wedding proposals. On this 100-year anniversary of Weller Hall, I look forward to celebrating God at work through His Word and in the lives of His people in a place that has become a symbol of our mission."

Weller Hall is named after J. George Weller, who served as Concordia Nebraska's first president. Weller Hall was built in 1925 and was expanded to include the current Weller Chapel in 1950. The building has been the university's main administrative building since it opened, and a few university undergraduate courses sometimes meet in the building.

The most widely-recognized building on campus, Weller Hall is a space for students and faculty from across campus to gather. Weekday chapel services take place at 11 a.m. during the school year, and the space is also filled with faculty, staff and students at other times for Praise, Evening Prayer, special services and various performances throughout the academic year.
