Concordia Nebraska Dual Credit Program announces first Concordia Academy Members

by Amy Crawford

Seward, NE (06/15/2023) — Concordia University, Nebraska today announced that the university's dual credit program has inducted the first members into the university's new Concordia Academy. Concordia Nebraska offers dual credit classes through more than 40 partner high schools across the country and internationally. Students who have earned at least nine credit hours of Concordia University, Nebraska dual credit automatically become members of the newly-formed Concordia Academy. In spring 2023, more than 600 of Concordia's 1,700 dual credit students qualified as members of Concordia Academy. 400 of those were seniors in high school.

Concordia Academy members receive a variety of benefits, including waived enrollment fee at Concordia Nebraska, automatic credit transfer, tuition savings and more.

"Concordia Nebraska's Dual Credit program not only allows students to receive outstanding learning opportunities and dual credit through face-to-face instruction on their own high school campus, it also leads to cost savings for students and their families," said Concordia Nebraska Director of Dual Credit and School Partnerships Dr. Beth Pester. "The formation of Concordia Academy allows us to recognize students who have excelled in the Concordia Dual Credit program at their high school, and it also allows us to give them a sneak peek of the outstanding offerings available at Concordia Nebraska."

Dual credit classes allow high school students to take college classes at a fraction of the price paid at a university. Because dual credit students have the opportunity to complete many graduation-required courses before starting college, these students enjoy academic options including the flexibility to double major, add a minor, graduate early or take a lighter class load to allow time for other activity participation.

"It is a pleasure to celebrate the success of our first Concordia Academy students," said Pester. "High school is filled with great memories and great accomplishments, and we're honored to be a part of that for these students."
