Concordia Radio Project set to broadcast

Seward, NE (10/05/2017) — Concordia University, Nebraska, is collaborating with KNNA The Cross, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln, on programming for their radio station.

The Concordia Radio Project is recording programs in Concordia University's campus studio and then plans to broadcast them from Lincoln. Professor or student interviews will be some of the show's programs as well as music groups and bands on campus playing their music.

A mixer and a few mics were donated this past year and the department is still building on its equipment. "In the future we hope to have the ability to broadcast live straight from Seward," says Tobin Beck, professor of journalism at Concordia. "The Radio Project will be run like a club adjunct with the broadcasting journalism classes but may branch out from there. We expect to start having material ready by the first week in October."

The Cross has a variety of other shows scheduled, including talks with Good Shepherd's pastors, big band music, soundtrack music, old time radio dramas, "Off on a Tangent" hosted by three Concordia alumni, and live sermons every Sunday morning. The station is completely non-profit and run by volunteers who aim to be a family and Christ-centered station.

Jim Kirk, coordinator of KNNA said, "Most of us have no prior knowledge of radio broadcasting. We have all learned much and have worked very hard to provide a great Lutheran and community radio station. No one has to be studying broadcasting to join in the fun. Don't let the lack of skill or experience in radio scare anyone away. It's a lot of fun and totally worth it."

The radio show can be heard on KNNA-FM The Cross at 95.7 FM or online at www.thecross957.org. The schedule is posted on that website. There is also a free KNNA app available for download at Google Play or the App Store.

Anyone wanting to help with recordings or interested in being on the radio can contact Professor Tobin Beck at tobin.beck@cune.edu.
