Concordia's Center for Liturgical Art hosts Marxhausen Studio Auction

Seward, Neb. (11/17/2017) — Concordia University, Nebraska's Center for Liturgical Art (CLA) is hosting an online auction of items in Marxhausen's studio from 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 through 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27.

"We are selling a number of items from the Marxhausen studio which includes pieces he made or pieces he kept around for inspiration or traded for with other artists," said Evan Balleweg, CLA Operations Manager. "Notable pieces include a cosmic cube with his name engraved, a large stardust prototype, and the mosaic back door from his house. All proceeds will be used to renovate his studio."

The new CLA facility was dedicated early this year on Sept. 22 at 540 North Columbia Avenue in Seward, Nebraska, where the former Marxhausen family home stood. It is also the site of Reinhold Marxhausen's studio, where the art professor completed his two mosaic murals for the Nebraska State Capitol. Planned renovations include structural and aesthetic improvements to restore the studio into a workshop.

The online auction goes live via https://www.32auctions.com/CLAMarxhausenAuction at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17.
