Concordia's Wind Symphony to Embark on 2024 Spring Tour

by Hope Nelson

Seward, NE (03/20/2024) — Concordia's Wind Symphony will travel to Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Iowa from April 11-15 on their 2024 spring tour.

The concert's selections draw from both sacred and secular realms of music and focus on the theme of joy: joy in life, joy in death, and joy eternal. Audience members will have the opportunity to hear pieces like Antonin Dvorak's "Slavonic March," Frank Ticheli's "Joy Revisited," Alfred Reed's "Alleluia! Laudamus Te," and Robert W. Smith's "Precious Lord," among many others.

Additionally, the Wind Symphony will perform Benjamin Culli's "Bless the Lord, O My Soul!", a piece newly commissioned for the ensemble.

The Concordia Wind Symphony is under the direction of Professor Robert Cody. Cody graduated from Concordia in 2014 with a degree in K-12 music education. At Concordia, he was a member of the symphonic band and A Cappella choir. He received his master's from Colorado State University in 2020, focusing on music education with a conducting emphasis.

Admission to the concerts is free. Free-will offerings will be collected at each concert to assist with tour expenses.
