Concordia University, Nebraska hosts annual early childhood education conference

Seward, NE (06/06/2024) — Concordia University, Nebraska hosted its annual early childhood education conference June 2-3, 2024, in the university's Thom Leadership and Education Center. About 150 people attended the event, which was designed to benefit and educate those interested in learning more about early childhood education, ministry and curriculum. Attendees were from Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and Kansas.

The theme of the conference was "Rise UpAnd Play!" based on Bible verse Exodus 32:6: "So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink."

The conference featured more than 20 breakout sessions, three keynote presentations, service opportunities and time to interact with friends and colleagues.

"At Concordia Nebraska, we strive to provide the best educational resources available," said conference chairperson and assistant professor of education Dr. Drew Gerdes. "As an educator and administrator, being a lifelong learner is a key aspect of growth and professional development. The opportunity to network and fellowship at this conference echoes the matchless community that such an integral part of who we are at the university."

Rachel Bausch, the principal of learning experience and early childhood director at St. John School in Ellisville, Missouri, gave the keynote address at a Sunday evening dinner event. Jim Gill, a popular children's musician, spoke at two other keynote presentations. The event also included a Scholastic book fair and a variety of other vendors.
