Concordia University, Nebraska launches two new family life focused graduate degree programs
Seward, NE (01/31/2024) — Concordia University, Nebraska today announced the launch of two new university graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master of Science in Family Life Education. Available in fall 2024, both programs emphasize a Scripture-based perspective and Christian worldview not often found in the curriculum of typical counseling programs.
"These programs will equip participants to guide and support church and community families by developing knowledge of faith-focused therapy perspective that reflect Christ's light and champion a Christian worldview that revitalizes and protects marriages and families," explained Dr. Thaddeus Warren, director of the Concordia Nebraska Director of Christian Education program.
The Master of Marriage and Family Therapy is ideal for college graduates and undergraduates who have earned or are working toward a degree in psychology or social services and want to become licensed therapists. The program will prepare participants for therapy licensure and help them pursue a career that transforms marriages, families and communities by emphasizing Scripture-based views of modern psychology. The program is 62 to 64 credit hours and completion time is 24 months.
The Master of Family Life Education is ideal for existing full-time or part-time church works, pastors, DCEs and others who desire to expand their ministry as family life educators. The program will help participants enhance their church work roles and will help participants guide congregations through faith-focused counseling approaches designed especially for the church environment. The program is 36 to 39 credit hours and completion time is 18 months.
Concordia Nebraska offers a variety of comprehensive, online graduate programs. Featuring eight-week courses and numerous start dates throughout the year, these faith-based programs allow most participants to earn a master's degree in 18 to 24 months.
