Concordia University, Nebraska named College of Distinction

National college guide highlights colleges that excel in student-focused education

Seward, Neb. (07/12/2018) — Concordia University, Nebraska has been honored as a College of Distinction for the 2018-19 academic year, an honor bestowed on top schools in the country, for the fourth straight year.

Concordia is one of only five institutions from Nebraska to receive this award and is the only Christian College of Distinction in the state.

Concordia is part of a select group of colleges to earn this prestigious designation, based on its excellence in Four Distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.

"We are pleased by this recognition, as Concordia's student experience matches so well with the key metrics of Colleges of Distinction," said Scott Seevers, Concordia's vice president for enrollment management. "Our graduates consistently describe Concordia as a vibrant, Christ-centered learning community and as a campus with outstanding faculty who engage with students both inside and outside the classroom. Those things simply don't happen at every college in America, but they happen at a College of Distinction."

High school college counselors and educators nominate colleges and universities for recognition by Colleges of Distinction, which then evaluates each school based on qualitative and quantitative research. The colleges and universities are not ranked and instead are members of a consortium of other equally impressive schools.

"While others focus on prestige, we focus on what matters to students: getting the richest college experience possible," says Tyson Schritter, Colleges of Distinction's chief operating officer. "We enable students to find the right schools for themselves, not the mythical best schools."

Colleges of Distinction looks beyond rankings and test scores to find colleges that are the ideal places to learn, grow and succeed. The selection process reviews such factors as the school's first year experience, general education program, experiential components of the curriculum, the strategic plan and alumni success and satisfaction.
