Concordia University, Nebraska named College of Distinction for 2021-22

Seward, NE (07/22/2021) — For the seventh straight year, Concordia University, Nebraska has been recognized as a College of Distinction, an honor bestowed on top schools in the country, for the 2021-22 academic year.

Concordia is one of only five Nebraska institutions to receive this award and is the only Christian College of Distinction in the state. Additionally, the university is recognized as a Nebraska College of Distinction, College of Distinction-Business and College of Distinction-Education, based on excellence in four areas-engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

"We are grateful to receive this honor for the seventh straight year, as our dedication to our students aligns so well with the key metrics of Colleges of Distinction," said Dr. Gary McDaniel, Concordia's vice president for enrollment and marketing. "This recognition is a testament to our outstanding faculty, who help to create a vibrant, Christ-centered learning community where our students have the resources needed for them to thrive."

High school college counselors and educators nominate colleges and universities for recognition by Colleges of Distinction, which then evaluates each school based on qualitative and quantitative research. The colleges and universities are not ranked and instead are members of a consortium of other equally impressive schools.

"Every student has their own unique set of abilities, their own goals, and their own ideal settings in which they would thrive," said Wes Creel, founder of Colleges of Distinction. "That's why we don't rank our schools. It's about finding the best opportunities for each individual's needs and desires. Concordia Nebraska's inclusion is informed by the unique ways it commits to achieving success."

Colleges of Distinction's selection process consists of detailed interviews and research for each institution's freshman experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, career development, strategic plan, student satisfaction and more.
