Concordia University, Nebraska named College of Distinction
Seward, NE (08/23/2019) — Concordia University, Nebraska has been recognized as a College of Distinction, an honor bestowed on top schools in the country, for the 2019-20 academic year.
Concordia is one of only five Nebraska institutions to receive this award and is the only Christian College of Distinction in the state. Concordia is part of a select group of colleges to earn this prestigious designation, based on its excellence in four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.
"We are pleased to receive this recognition for the fifth straight year, as our dedication to our students matches so well with the key metrics of Colleges of Distinction," said Scott Seevers, Concordia's vice president for enrollment management. "This recognition is a testament to our vibrant, Christ-centered learning community and our outstanding faculty, who engage with students both inside and outside the classroom. Those types of things don't happen at every college in America, but they happen at a College of Distinction."
High school college counselors and educators nominate colleges and universities for recognition by Colleges of Distinction, which then evaluates each school based on qualitative and quantitative research. The colleges and universities are not ranked and instead are members of a consortium of other equally impressive schools.
"We are so proud to see Concordia University, Nebraska walking the walk," said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction. "Colleges of Distinction knows that a truly valuable education can't be measured by rank or reputation. Students learn and thrive best when they embrace hands-on learning in a vibrant, welcoming community. That's why it's so encouraging to find Concordia taking such an innovative approach with its curriculum: its high-impact educational practices ensure that the undergraduate experience is worthwhile and unique."
Colleges of Distinction's selection process consists of detailed interviews and research for each institution's freshman experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, career development, strategic plan, student satisfaction and more.
