Concordia will host Rev. Stephen A. Wiggins Sr. as a part of their spring speaker series

Seward, NE (01/16/2026) — At 7 p.m. in Weller Hall on January 27, guest speaker Rev. Stephen A. Wiggins Sr. '82 will be giving a presentation in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr.

Wiggins is the pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Florida, and is also the president of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod Black Clergy Caucus.

Pastor Wiggins graduated from Concordia Teacher's College in May 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Lutheran Teacher's Diploma. In May 1988, he received a Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary - Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He has previously served as an adjunct professor at Concordia University Irvine and as pastor at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and vacancy pastor of Crown in Glory Lutheran Church in Salisbury, North Carolina, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pastor Wiggins also served as the LCMS North American Missionary for the Atlanta, Georgia, region. Before taking the call to Saint Paul in Jacksonville, he served the congregation of Christ Lincoln Lutheran Church in East Point, Georgia, for nineteen years.

He has also served the LCMS as a Circuit Counselor, a member of the Board for District & Congregational Service from 1988-2004, a member of the Black Lutheran Advisory School Team (BLAST) from 1996-2010, and as a member of the Lutheran Child & Family Services of Michigan Board of Directors from 1998-2002.

Pastor Wiggins is married to the former Annetta Scott of Chicago, Illinois, and has two adult children, Danielle Marie and Stephen Jr.
