Educator Brianne Stahlecker CO '09, GR '17 serves in the classroom, with Lutheran Women in Mission

Seward, NE (06/17/2025) — Brianne Stahlecker CO '09, GR '17 discovered Concordia University, Nebraska because of family ties.

"One of my older cousins attended, and I wanted to be like her. Then my brother came, and I didn't want to follow him, but he kept bugging me to come visit, so I did, and it felt like home," she said.

Stahlecker has a bachelor's degree in middle level education focused on math and language arts and a master's degree in literacy with reading specialist emphasis from the university. She said there are many things that stand out about her time at the university, but she said the uniqueness of the campus community and the treasured friendships she formed made Concordia Nebraska feel like a home away from home.

"[My professors] helped me find that middle school was truly the age for me to teach. I wasn't entirely sure about that when I started, but I am certain now that middle school is the best place for me," she said. "I was prepared extremely well to become a teacher in the Lutheran school system. I know my content - math and language arts - well. My second student teaching experience was very helpful."

Stahlecker has taught at four different schools in four different towns in three different states during her 16-year career.

"During that time I've taught grade six to eight language arts and math. I've also coached volleyball, basketball, and track and directed eighth grade class plays and a musical. One of my greatest passions in teaching has been coaching basketball," she said.

She currently serves as the grade six to eight language arts and grade eight algebra teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School in Giddings, Texas. She is also the varsity volleyball coach and JV and varsity girls basketball coach.

"I love the relationships I'm able to form with my students. In my years of teaching I've been able to foster some really great, positive relationships, especially with the girls I've coached through the years," she said.

Stahlecker has been involved with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) since she started teaching in 2009, but she got heavily involved in 2013 at the national convention in Pittsburgh.

"I was a Young Woman Representative (YWR) for the LWML Missouri District that year. After that, I got much more involved in all levels," she explained. "From 2015-2017, I worked on the Information Technology Committee (ITC) for the national LWML. From 2016-2020, I was the LWML Nebraska South District Leader Development Committee Chairman. From 2017-2019, I was on the Committee on Young Women for the national LWML. In 2019-2021, I was the Nominating Committee Chairman for national. From 2020-2022 I was the LWML Missouri District Mission Servants Chairman. From 2021-2023 I was the Group and Leader Development Committee Chairman for national. Currently, I serve on the Publications Committee for national. I was also elected as the LWML Texas District Vice President of Christian Life in 2024. That term is over in 2028."

When she's not teaching or serving LWML, Stahlecker enjoys various crafts and being creative, doing paint-by-numbers, reading and writing.
