Former Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture Presents during National Ag Week

Seward, NE (03/15/2022) — In celebration of National Ag Week, the Concordia University, Nebraska Ag Club is hosting the First Annual National Ag Week Forum March 25, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in Dunklau Center for Science, Math and Business Lecture Hall. The keynote speaker for the event is Greg Ibach, former director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and former U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary, presenting on "Why Agriculture is Important."

Ibach is currently the Under Secretary in Residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He spent the past three years as USDA's Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, where he carried out the MRP mission area's broad task of facilitating domestic and international marketing of U.S. agricultural products and ensuring the health and care of animals and plants.

Prior to his USDA appointment, Ibach served as Nebraska's Director of Agriculture for over 12 years, making him the longest-serving director in the organization's history. He has been inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement and was a 2018 Block and Bridle Honoree as well as the recipient of the Department of Agricultural Economics 2020 Outstanding Alumni Award.

Ibach holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska with majors in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics. He and his wife, Teresa, have three grown children and two granddaughters. They continue to maintain a cow/calf and grain operation in Sumner, Nebraska.

"Mr. Ibach's presentation will be a valuable opportunity for both students and community members," said Ami Pritchett, President of the Concordia Agriculture Club. "As the former director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, he has extensive experience in agriculture as well as in communications. This is a real opportunity for our students to learn from an industry expert who understands Nebraska agriculture and the impact it has on our local community, the nation and the world."
