Get to know Concordia Nebraska's Director of Theatre Bryan Moore

Seward, NE (06/11/2025) — Concordia Nebraska Professor of Communication and Theatre and Director of Theatre Bryan Moore teaches most of the theatre courses at university and also oversees the theatre program's productions and activities. He directs at least one university show per semester and mentors student directors. He also serves as the advisor for the student improvisation troupe, the IMPROVables, and also advises the Curtain Club student theatre interest group.

He has served the university since fall 2007. In addition to his work at the university, he is currently an officer with the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. He previously served as the president of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas international theatre organization.

"I enjoy creating quality theatre productions with a talented group of students and staff. I love both getting immersed creatively in the rehearsal process and then seeing audiences engage with the resulting performances," he said. "I'm blessed to work and engage with a faith-filled community of students and colleagues who work hard to learn from and support each other. I love working with a great group of students who want to learn about and make excellent theatre."

Moore also serves as a board member for Seward's Olde Glory Theatre and has directed numerous plays there over the years.

"Many shows I've directed there have included Concordia Nebraska students and alumni in the cast and crew," he explained. "Concordia Nebraska Theatre has also had university-sponsored events there, including IMPROVables performances and a few mainstage and student directed plays, particularly during the renovation of the Borland Center for Music and Theatre."

Moore has been married more than 24 years and has two children in high school. He said his main hobbies are attending theatre shows, puzzles, reading and movies. He also works with numerous theatre artists and companies in Lincoln and Omaha and is often involved in new play development.

"I'm fortunate to connect with supportive colleagues and dedicated students who reflect on and practice their faith through their actions, which makes me want to reciprocate the same," he said. "I learn daily and strengthen in my faith journey from our interactions and collaborations in the classrooms and in the theatre."
