Graduating seniors recognized for academic achievements at 2023 Commencement Honors Dinner

Seward, NE (05/06/2023) — Concordia University, Nebraska honored graduating seniors who achieved outstanding academic accomplishments during their college career at its Commencement Honors Dinner on May 5.

Every year, each academic department may give two or more awards, depending on the size of the department and the number of students in the program. Each department establishes its own criteria for determining award recipients, but the criteria must, at minimum, consider the student's grade-point average, level of service to the department and level of service to Concordia.

"These outstanding students have added significantly to our academic community and have been a blessing to the faculty with whom they have studied and to the students with whom they have learned," said Dr. Tim Preuss, Concordia provost.

Concordia's College of Arts and Sciences, represented by Dr. Lisa Ashby, dean of the college, honored the following students:

Art: Jacob Brandt
English, Communication and Theater Arts: Carrie Black and Grant Lammers
History, Geography, Intercultural Studies and Modern Foreign Language: Brynna Bruxellas and Jonathan Landrey
Music: Hannah Cmeyla and Renata Peperkorn
Natural and Computer Science: Rachel Battershell, Ella Moll, Benjamin Moll and Ethan Ideus
Theology, Philosopy and Biblical Languages: Owen Dawson and Tyler Linneman

Concordia's College of Business, represented by Jonathon Moberly, dean of the college, honored the following students:

Computer Science and Mathematics: Kathryn Castens, Neal Patron and Bennett Shane
Paul H. and Mary Ann Koehler Department of Business: Marc Freiberg II and Ashley Gerczynski

Concordia's College of Education, Health and Human Services, represented by Dr. Lorinda Sankey, dean of the college, honored the following students:

Health and Human Performance: Rachel Battershell, Drew D'Ercole and Erin Mapson
Human and Social Sciences: Emma Dangers, Morgan Fischer, Lydia Grimpo and Rosanna Scott
Early Childhood Education: Hannah Eatherton
