Lyman Stone to keynote Concordia Nebraska annual Academic and Research Symposium

Seward, NE (04/17/2025) — On Monday, April 28, Concordia University, Nebraska will present its annual Academic and Research Symposium event featuring keynote speaker Lyman Stone. Concordia University, Nebraska's Academic and Research Symposium is designed to showcase undergraduate scholarship, science and research in a relaxed, interdisciplinary setting. Stone's keynote address is themed "What Tomorrow May Bring: Evidence from the Lutheran Religious Life Survey Revealing How the LCMS is Changing." Stone will share how research is used to inform people, bring ideas forward and pose questions.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. in Dunklau Lecture Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Stone connects the work of a researcher to applications of the research and is a senior fellow and director of the Pronatalism Initiative at the Institute for Family Studies. He is also the director of research at the consulting firm Demographic Intelligence and a doctoral candidate at McGill University. His work has been covered in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Vox and The Federalist as well as numerous local outlets. He previously worked as an international economist for USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service and currently lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with his wife and three daughters. They formerly lived in Hong Kong.
