Meet Concordia Nebraska's new LCMS Church Work Recruiter Aaron Rohde

Seward, NE (10/10/2025) — Concordia University, Nebraska recently announced that Aaron Rohde has been hired to serve the university as its Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Church Work Recruiter.

"The LCMS Church Work Recruiter is a member of the undergraduate admissions team, primarily focusing on those students who are interested in becoming a Lutheran educator, Director of Christian Education, pastor, deaconess or parish musician," explained Rohde. "Ultimately, my responsibility is to recruit and enroll new students at Concordia through connecting, educating and encouraging them to consider church work as their vocation."

Rohde has a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Concordia University Chicago and a master of science degree in brain-based teaching from Nova Southeastern University. Prior to his new role at Concordia Nebraska, he served as classroom teacher and music and worship coordinator at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Reed City, Michigan. Since 1993, he had served in various classroom teaching and parish assistant roles in Texas and Michigan.

"I've been blessed by Lutheran education throughout my life, being guided and taught by a wide array of teachers, pastors and musicians," he said. "The favorite part of my job is to tell about how God blesses us through His grace, mercy, love and forgiveness, not because of what we have done, but because of who He is. All believers have been given the privilege of sharing God's love, and, as Lutheran church workers, we have a special opportunity to do this in our jobs and service to others."

He said that he appreciates the fact that Concordia Nebraska offers students and staff alike many opportunities to grow and develop their faith every day.

"Studying and learning about God's Word, participating in worship and being in fellowship with other believers deepens one's faith and keeps it at the forefront of the mind," he said. "This is a blessing that enriches my life greatly."

Rohde and his wife Laura have four children: Calvin '24, Grant '26, Gus and Fiona. When he's not working, you'll find Rohde playing guitar, singing, writing, listening to or critiquing music and keeping up with the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers, NASCAR and Detroit Red Wings. He also enjoys gardening and making connections with others via social media.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed playing music at various establishments and gatherings over the years, planning worship services, preparing and leading choirs and musical activities, and meeting people from all sorts of backgrounds," he said.

He said he is excited to serve in his new role at the university.

"I love to learn, and I love to see growth in students. This is my chance to learn and grow into the person that is needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the LCMS Church Work Recruiter," he said. "I see this position as a critical component of what goes on at Concordia Nebraska, and I am humbled to have been given the opportunity to do such a thing."

Concordia University, Nebraska has prepared more future LCMS church workers than any other school in the Concordia University System. The university is blessed with faculty and staff who truly understand what it means to follow God's call, and our Christ-centered community seeks to know students' names as we strive to equip these children of God to shine His light in the world. We are committed to raising up faithful Lutheran teachers, pastors, DCEs, deaconesses, parish music directors and others to build up and support the church.
