More than 250 students attend Concordia Nebraska church work student luncheon

Seward, NE (10/29/2025) — More than 250 students attended Concordia University, Nebraska church work student luncheon on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The event featured presentations by four university church work students and university DCE Associate Professor Amy Hubach. The event also included networking opportunities, a taco and nacho lunch buffet and an address from university President Dr. Bernard Bull, who spoke about how Lutheran education changed his life as a middle school student. He also stressed the importance of the Bible truths that he learned at a Lutheran School.

Hubach told the group about a recent university field trip to Mission Central in rural Iowa, which was attended by about 40 university students and staff. Students including Timothy Dose, Lille Douglas, Reilly Saline and Cadence Fulfs described their experience on the trip and detailed what poignant memories from the visit.

Dr. Thad Warren also distributed two books from The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod to attendees about church worker wellness. The lunch was planned and hosted by Hubach and Dr. Lorinda Sankey, who serves Concordia University, Nebraska as Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and as Head of Teacher Education.

Students from various church work programs were intentionally grouped at each table along with various university faculty and staff. At the close of the event, Bull led the group in a closing prayer and in singing the Doxology.

There are currently 309 students in church work programs at Concordia Nebraska. Concordia Nebraska's church work programs include Lutheran teacher diploma, director of Christian education, director of parish music, pre-seminary, pre-deaconess and classical Lutheran educator certification.
