Plum Creek Literacy Festival hosts Annual Book Sale
Seward, NE (08/31/2022) — The Plum Creek Literacy Festival will host a pre-event book sale in Room 003 on the lower level of the Thom Leadership Education Center at Concordia University, Nebraska on Wednesday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The award-winning Plum Creek Literacy Festival, founded in 1996, seeks to encourage a love of reading, writing and books by bringing nationally renowned authors and illustrators to Nebraska who host interactive workshops and keynotes for school children and adults.
The pre-sale will include books by authors, illustrators and literacy experts featured at the 26th annual festival, which will take place September 22-24 on the Concordia campus. Books purchased during the pre-sale may be left for the authors to sign and may be picked up following the festival. The sale, run by volunteers, is one of the main sources of funding for the festival. "Our festival pre-sale includes titles for all ages from our featured authors and illustrators - board books, picture books, chapter books, and young adult novels - by some of today's most prominent authors and illustrators in the field," said Dr. Dylan Teut, director of the Plum Creek Literacy Festival. "Purchases are left behind to be autographed by the book creators themselves and are available for pick up following the festival. An autographed book is a unique treasure that makes for a great gift. A portion of all sales come back to directly support the festival, allowing us to welcome more than 14,000 children free of charge." This year's festival will feature authors and illustrators include Caroline Arnold, Tim Bowers, Tamara Bundy, Maryann Cocca-Leffler, Lulu Delacre, Guy Francis, Keiko Kasza, David Macaulay, Jennifer Nielsen, Shanah Opfer, Jerry Pallotta, Amy Parker, Matthew Reinhart, Pam Munoz Ryan, Antonio Sacre, Roland Smith, James Solheim, Kerron Stark, Jason Tharp and Jennifer Ward. Literacy experts Dr. Lauren Gatti, James Ginal and Dr. Joan Jacobs will also participate in the event.
The festival includes a children's day on September 23 featuring special presentations and activities for students and an adult conference on September 24 where authors, illustrators and several literacy experts speak on a variety of topics.
