Rev. Dr. Jon Vieker to speak at Concordia University, Nebraska

Seward, NE (09/14/2017) — Rev. Dr. Jon Vieker will present "Luther and the Lutherans: Singing the Gospel into People's Ears for 500 Years" as part of the 500th Reformation Anniversary Lecture Series at the Concordia University, Nebraska, campus at 7 p.m., Sept. 18, 2017, in Weller Chapel Auditorium.

Vieker is the senior assistant to Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and served as assistant director for the LCMS Commission on Worship for 12 years. He was involved in their production of "Lutheran Services Book" and has served as an editor on the "Festschrift" volumes and "Through the Church the Song Goes On."

He received a bachelor's degree in music from California Lutheran University and a master's degree in divinity in sacred theology and a doctorate from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He then served as a parish pastor, organist, and choral director at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield, Michigan for nine years.

Concordia University, Nebraska, will host three guest speakers this fall as part of the 500th Reformation Anniversary Lecture Series, all of whom will present on a variety of topics related to the Reformation. Following each lecture, there will be time to ask questions as well as meet the presenter. All presentations are free and open to the public.
