Rev. Dr. Ryan Tinetti, professor at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, to give guest lecture at Concordia Nebraska

by Hope Nelson

Seward, NE (02/11/2025) — Concordia University, Nebraska recently announced that Rev. Dr. Ryan Tinetti will be one of three guest speakers visiting campus during the spring semester. His lecture, entitled "Living Quietly in a Noisy Age," will take place on February 25, 2025, in Thom Auditorium at 7 p.m.

Tinetti is Assistant Professor of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he teaches pastoral theology and homiletics. He is the author of Preaching by Heart (Cascade, 2021) and the forthcoming The Quiet Ambition (IVP, 2025). He graduated from the seminary in 2010 before serving as a parish pastor for 14 years in Michigan, Washington and California. He also has experience in international mission work and congregation planting.

Tinetti is a renowned speaker and has provided guest lectures at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Praetoria, South Africa, Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind. and on the Lutheran Hour radio program.

"We live in noisy times, rife with restless ambition," Tinetti said regarding the topic of his upcoming guest lecture. "How can Christians live faithfully amid the racket? Scripture offers a paradoxical solution: the Apostle Paul writes, 'Make it your ambition to live quietly' (1 Thess. 4:11). In this lecture we will listen in on some of the 'noisemakers' we live with in contemporary culture and consider how living quietly can provide a pathway to peace."

Rev. Dr. Tinetti has served at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis since 2024. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time walking, reading, baking and playing table tennis. He and his wife Anne live with their four children on the campus of CSL.

This guest lecture at Concordia Nebraska is part of the Looking Beyond speaker series, which is made possible through an ongoing gift from the Martin and Regina Maehr family that was created to expose Concordia Nebraska students and the Seward community to diverse speakers and ideas.
