Senior Kristin Vieselmeyer follows sisters' footsteps at Concordia Nebraska
Seward, NE (12/13/2025) — Senior Kristin Vieselmeyer of Holyoke, Colorado, is majoring in exercise science at Concordia University, Nebraska with minors in psychology and biology. She plays basketball for the Bulldogs.
"I chose Concordia because I knew it would be a place where I could be provided a great Christian education as well as grow in my faith in a loving community. I also admired the small town feel you get from Seward. My sisters, Erin Carper '17 and Megan Schipper '19 both attended and graduated from Concordia."
Erin studied biology and continued her education at Concordia University Wisconsin, where she earned her master's degree as a physician's assistant. Megan studied exercise science and continued her education at College of Saint Mary where she earned her doctorate in physical therapy.
"Both loved and spoke highly of their experience at Concordia as well as their time on the women's basketball team," she said. "They both expressed that Concordia helped shape them and allowed them to grow in their faith, which is an experience they feel blessed to have had. Concordia is different from any other university because of the community and the values that are upheld at this university. Faith is integrated into every aspect of Concordia from the classrooms, to locker rooms, to everyday conversation on campus. Each student is encouraged to grow closer to Christ and to use their God-given gifts to accomplish their goals."
Vieselmeyer said the university's exercise science program has allowed her to expand her knowledge in science, health and wellness while being surrounded by a Christ-centered community and supportive staff.
"Not only has my education been strengthened, but my personal, spiritual and emotional health has also been nurtured. Professors and mentors have gone out of their way to guide me through challenges and help me navigate my future as I pursue graduate school after completing my undergraduate degree," she said. "They have also provided me with service-learning opportunities and valuable resources that have enhanced both my experience and my leadership skills."
Following graduation, Vieselmeyer plans to pursue a doctorate of physical therapy. She said she is grateful for the gift of her family's support throughout her education.
"My family is my rock in every aspect of my life. They are the reason I am the person I am today," she said. "The love and support that I have received from them is overwhelming and I can never thank them enough for all that they have done for me these last four years and still do for me today. My parents, Erik and Michelle live in my hometown of Holyoke, Colorado, along with my two sisters. I am blessed to have the best role in the world, which is to be an aunt of my four favorite little humans, Rylan, Raelynn, Blakely and Paisley!"
Her parents and her brother-in-law, Jared Schipper, farm and run a seed business called Vieselmeyer Seed, Inc.
"They are all very busy throughout the year with work, however, they always manage to make it to most of my games during basketball season!" she said.
Vieselmeyer said she found her way to Concordia Nebraska through the guidance of her family and pastor but most specifically through her older sisters.
"For years I have had the opportunity to watch my sisters from a distance grow and thrive at Concordia, which led me to want a similar experience," she said. "My favorite experience here at Concordia are the moments with my teammates. Concordia has brought me my life long best friends who will be in my life forever. I have had the chance to share my love for the game with my best friends which is a once in a lifetime experience that I will forever cherish. These last four years my faith and my relationship with Christ has grown deeper as I have taken opportunities to worship and reflect! Concordia has provided me with various people and worship opportunities that have guided me to understand God's grace and how His love plays a role in my life."
