Concordia presents winter Jazzfest and handbell concerts
Seward, NE (11/21/2017) — Concordia University, Nebraska's Winter Jazzfest will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 in the Weller chapel auditorium.
The group will perform "Birdland" arranged by John Higgins and "Sweet Georgia Brown" arranged by Sammy Nestico, along with pieces by Gordon Goodwin and Bob Turner, to name a few.
Additionally, the Concordia Handbell Choir and Handbell Choir II will perform at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Music Center's Recital Hall on Concordia's campus.
The handbell choirs will perform Christmas pieces including "Wizards in Winter," "Deck the Halls," "Children, Go Where I Send Thee," and "Huron Carol." Concordia Handbell Choir's CD, "Faithful," released in April of this year, will also be available for purchase at the concert.
"The students have a wonderful selection of music prepared for our Christmas Handbell Concert," said Jessica Kite, director. "I am very proud of the effort these ringers have put into their music this semester. In addition to their various areas of study, our ringers are involved in many other campus activities. I feel very privileged to get to know and work with them every week. We enjoy sharing the Gospel message through our music. The concert is definitely a highlight of the Christmas season for ringers and audience members alike!"
