Nationally renowned author Kate DiCamillo to visit Seward

Seward, NE (11/15/2018) — Children's author Kate DiCamillo will visit Concordia University, Nebraska, as part of her national tour hosted by the Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival and Chapters Books & Gifts of Seward at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Weller Auditorium on Concordia's campus.

DiCamillo will be available to sign books after her presentation. Her books will be on sale during the event, including some of her bestsellers and her new book, "Louisiana's Way Home."

One of America's most beloved storytellers, DiCamillo is currently published in over 40 languages with almost 30 million copies of her books in print worldwide. She is a two-time Newbery Medal winner and author of seven other bestselling novels, including "Because of Winn-Dixie," "The Tale of Despereaux" and "Flora & Ulysses." This release of her eighth novel is the first time that DiCamillo revisited any of her characters and created a sequel for them.

"We're thrilled that Seward, Concordia, Chapters and Nebraska will be able to meet and engage with Kate during this special event," said Dylan Teut, director of the Plum Creek Literacy Festival. "Kate is blessing us with her presence not once, but twice as she has also agreed to be the keynote speaker at the 2019 Plum Creek Festival's Adult Conference next fall. These are sure to be extraordinary opportunities to meet one of America's most prolific and respected authors."

The presentation is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required to guarantee a spot in the book signing line. Tickets are available with the purchase of a copy of "Louisiana's Way Home" from Chapters Books & Gifts, located at 548 Seward St. Interested community members can check availability of tickets by calling Chapters at 402-643-2282. Doors open at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

For questions, contact Chapters Books & Gifts, chapters@windstream.net or Dylan Teut, director of Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival, dylan.teut@cune.edu.
