Concordia University, Nebraska sophomores Reagan Martens and Abigail Kollbaum are both currently serving on the executive leadership team for YouthLead, the youth organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's Office of National Missions. For 40 years, YouthLead has equipped teens to develop and use their leadership skills to serve Christ in various capacities in their communities and congregations. The YouthLead executive team is elected for three-year terms by peers during Youth Leadership Training events. Martens, Kollbaum and four other teens were elected to this team by their peers at the 2022 event. Their duties as members include facilitating annual YouthLead events, becoming leaders in their own congregations and even helping with key aspects of the upcoming National Youth Gathering (NYG).

This year, Concordia University, Nebraska's Lighthouse club is participating in Dressember. They have surpassed their amount raised last year by almost $2,000 already, and they are only $200 away from reaching their new goal.

Twenty-eight students traveled abroad this summer to teach, study, or serve the global community. Students were building relationships with people in Alaska, Chile, China, Ethiopia, Greece, Peru, Poland, Scotland, Spain and Uruguay.

Nine students from Concordia University, Nebraska served on a mission trip in Amatilan, Guatemala, May 10-17, 2016, in association with the Central American Lutheran Mission Society. The students were accompanied by President Rev. Dr. Brian Friedrich and Director of Global Opportunities Julie Johnston Hermann.

Eleven students from Concordia University, Nebraska spent their spring break serving in Guatemala on a medical mission trip led by Concordia's associate professor of health and human performance, Dr. Jennifer Janousek, Dr. Sarah Matthias, a pediatrician at Complete Children's Health in Lincoln, Nebraska and Jill Beisel, a physician assistant at Gastroenterology Specialties in Lincoln.

Five Concordia University students traveled to Belize in Central America Oct. 10-17, 2015, on a health mission trip in partnership with the Belize Mission Society and Concordia University Texas. The trip was led by Concordia Nebraska's Director of the RN to BSN Program Heidi Gubanyi.

Four Concordia students will join a team from St. John Lutheran Church in Seward on a mission trip June 20-28 to Akiachak, Alaska, to minister among the Yupik people through leading children in Bible camps and basketball camps focused on the theme "Jesus is the Light of the World."

Concordia University, Nebraska sent six students on the university's first mission trip to Ghana May 11-31 where the group worked with children in Lutheran schools and provided worship opportunities.

Eight students in a global health class at Concordia University, Nebraska are visiting Belize on a nine-day medical mission trip May 26-June 3.

A 16-member team from Concordia University, Nebraska completed a medical mission trip to Guatemala May 22-30. The mission team held medical clinics in two cities, El Progreso and Quebrada de Agua, providing health assessments and medicine for the villagers. Additionally, team members taught children hand washing and other hygiene techniques. The team also built stoves in seven homes with the aim of providing safer methods for cooking. According to Dr. Jennifer Janousek, director of Concordia's public health program and leader of the trip, most people in the villages cook over open fires, which causes respiratory problems and takes a toll on the environment. "What a blessing it was to share my heart and passion of mission work in Guatemala with these amazing students. I pray the people of Guatemala felt God's love as we served in this capacity," said Janousek. Team members shared Bible stories, songs and books with the villagers and spent some time hiking Pacaya Volcano in the mountains of Antigua. The mission team was made up of students from Concordia's Global Health class as well as two professors and a local doctor.
