Graduates receiving a degree in August 2016 or December 2016 were also invited to participate in the ceremony. Rev. Dr. John Mehl of Seward, Nebraska, presented the commencement address, and Concordia presented additional honorary awards and degrees.

The University A Cappella Choir from Concordia University, Nebraska, will travel to South Africa for its international tour May 7-27, 2017. The 74 voice choir was auditioned to get the number of students to 44, which is the optimum number to travel with internationally.

The Department of Natural Sciences at Concordia University, Nebraska, recognized exceptional work and contribution to the science department at its 16th annual awards banquet on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Graduating seniors were also honored at the banquet. Brad Schick, Concordia alumnus from 2014 who recently completed a Master's degree in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, shared some remarks on his experiences at Concordia and his research at UNL.

Concordia University, Nebraska's Speech Team recently won the team championship in the small school (Division III) category at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Forensics Association (NIFA) State Championship on Feb. 11, 2017, in Hastings, Nebraska.

Concordia University, Nebraska, presented "The Women of Lockerbie," Feb. 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. The performance, a primarily student-directed and designed show, was held in the Studio Theater of the Music Center on Concordia's campus.

The Concordia University, Nebraska Wind Ensemble, a select 43-member concert band, will be touring March 2-12, 2017, with stops in Missouri, Illinois and Florida.
